This July, North Lanarkshire will play host to The Westfield Health British Transplant Games which are expected to attract more than 1000 transplant athletes and 2000 supporters to the county. Held over four days, the Games include a range of sporting events and competitions, from fishing through to track and field.
Organised on behalf of the charity, Transplant Sport, the aim of the Games is to raise awareness of organ donation and increase sign-ups to the NHS Organ Donor Register. In addition, they aim to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation and encourage transplant patients to regain fitness.
With permission from registered owners International Tartans, local kiltmakers Glenisla Kilts of Motherwell are donating a made-to-measure kilt to each member of the North Lanarkshire team.
